Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom, we love to learn in many different ways. We use various manipulatives, centers, games and do a lot of projects. Each day we start the day off with breakfast in the classroom and every child is greeted at the door with a warm welcome and a warm meal.

One hundred percent of our school receives free lunch and breakfast due to the fact that they live in high poverty.

This affects every aspect of their lives but school should be a place where they are safe, fed, nurtured, and encouraged. I work my hardest to ensure this happens daily.

When my students come to school each morning, they are in a place where they can be kids and enjoy life. Our school is nestled in the Red Rocks in NM which gives a great backdrop for our learning. I have a group of 23 very energetic first graders who are ready to learn.

My Project

If my project is funded I can utilize the classroom tablets and desktop computers to assign 1/3 of my students to practice literacy and math skills on starfall.com while the rest of the students are actively engaged in small group learning.

This will help my students master their reading and math skills as well as helping them to become more familiar with technology as they manipulate the devices they are working on.

This subscription will also help my students because it will allow for smaller groups during center instruction which will mean less interruptions for behaviors and also a smaller teacher:student ratio for our small group instruction.

This starfall subscription will help my students master their reading and math skills because they will be able to repetitively practice the skills in fun ways. The students love "playing" on Starfall and don't even realize they are learning while they play!
