My students are bright children who are trying to overcome life's many challenges in a low income, high poverty community. They are battling against many forces to come to school and learn in a safe environment. I strive to give them a welcoming, safe, educational environment that shows them that I believe in them and their successes. I believe that they can make a difference in the world and I have faith that they will overcome the challenges of our community. Every day they enter my classroom with a friendly hello. I remind them constantly that it is OK to make mistakes that NOBODY is perfect and we do our best to encourage each other daily. Sometimes learning is hard and we thank our brains for making us so smart. It is my hope that the challenges my students face at home are temporarily forgotten when they are in my classroom.
