I teach two sections of third grade ELA. All 38 students are hardworking and love reading. They are determined to become stronger readers and I see that everyday in the classroom based on the effort level they present while reading. They are learning to love their books and make connections with the characters they are reading about. Our ELA block consists of reading workshop, where students are learning new strategies to further their love for reading. It also consists of independent reading and meeting the Next Generation Learning Standards.
It is important to me that students find a love for reading, a love for reading will allow them to see the world differently.
My students face challenges everyday inside and outside of the classroom. By making our classroom safe and loving and filled with books, they'll find their passion and love for reading.
My Project
Having new books will make a huge difference in the classroom. Our classroom does not have the best selection of books to further their love for reading and allow them to grow as strong readers.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
By having just right books, students will grow as readers and dive into all types of genres like never before. By giving students a variety of books to choose from, it will allow them to find new interests and allow them to become successful when reading independently.
