Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a very low-income area in Springfield, MA. Our school is a Level 3 school in need of further resources regularly. I teach an abundance of ELL students who need very hands-on language experiences. All students receive free lunch and breakfast each day. Despite many hardships, students come eager to learn and grow each day. I would like to give them the tools they need to succeed every day. With such diverse backgrounds, a classroom is a place where all of my students can feel at home.
My Project
Since we have returned to in-person learning, my students are eager to get their hands on a book!! It is so exciting to see them eager to read books, and I would like to provide them with new, exciting texts to continue to spark their interests.
Students are interested in reading books about the season and comic books, so I have chosen books to support these interests.
The more I can motivate my students to read, the better! Our classroom has a book display rack that I would like to change out seasonally for them as well.
