Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As an educator in a low-income, under-served, under-represented high school, my students face daily struggles in and out of the classroom. Despite these obstacles, that would hinder the average person, my students continue to persevere and excel academically.
For such a long time, their efforts and accomplishments have gone unnoticed but I want to change that.
I want to congratulate the senior class on their high school completion and entrance into college, work force and/or military, all while showcasing them to the underclassmen to show them that a better future is within their reach.
My Project
Decision Day is an event that will celebrate all of the successes of the senior class. This will be the first time an event as such will be held on campus. Being as this is the first annual 'Decision Day' so much more help and support is needed to ensure its success. The paint, brushes and glue will go specifically for decorations, such as but not limited to posters, banners and signs. The candy will be a part of the snacks and refreshments served during the event. The printer and ink will be used to print out the invitations for the event and later used for a photo booth so that the students have a memento of their event, senior year and accomplishments. Every single item that is being requested is essential to ensure the event's success.
Decision Day will serve as a send off for seniors as they go off to college while instilling an on-going college atmosphere for the underclassmen.
Among this graduating class are students who will be attending prestigious, top-ranked colleges and universities, such as Yale, UC Berkeley and UCLA. We are beyond proud the students' accomplishments and triumphs and cannot wait to see those of the students to come!
