Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a librarian at Sedgefield Elementary in Greensboro, NC. We are a PreK-5th grade school with 75% free lunch and 25% ESOL enrollment.(English Speakers of Other Languages) We currently have 4 kindergarten classes and 5 first grade classes. Many of our children do not have games, puzzles, books, or manipulatives at home to use and have not been exposed to different genres, such as fairy tales and nursery rhymes. I teach units of popular fairy tales and nursery rhymes to the children and would like to have puzzles of the stories for the children to put together. The puzzles would be educational, entertaining, and aid in fine motor development. These would be used primarily in the media center with kindergarten and first grades, but could be checked out and used at any grade level. There are 12 puzzles in a set with a wire rack to store them in. Another puzzle is of a huge castle that is a floor puzzle. The students and teachers of Sedgefield would greatly appreciate a donation for the purchase of these puzzles.
