Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Through the use of a Teachers Pay Teachers giftcard, our class can acquire a bundle of math center resources, intentionally aligned with our curriculum, that can work to promote STEM learning across the entire school year. Centimeter cubes are used for promoting relevant, life skills on measurement. Geometric blocks are necessary yet unprovided materials for our unit on geometry. Other addition and subtraction supplies are engaging ways to further students' fluency in early math skills, building up their abilities for later grades.

Approximately 17% my state's public school students are considered proficient in math.

This project aims to support these students with fun, engaging materials to promote fluency and a greater understanding of math, while working to close that gap. This wishlist is specifically tailored to what supplies are missing, but necessary to our mathematics curriculum, as well as includes additional ways to promote fluency.

Overall, it would not only aid students' learning, but create long-lasting collaborative memories of joy surrounding math - something many kids (and adult) seem to miss out on.
