Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When I walk into my classroom, I see a sea full of smiling happy faces. My students are very special, individually unique in each and every single way. My students love to learn, love to sing, and most importantly love to love one another.
The goal in my classroom is to celebrate individuals while creating a sense of community.
I have a new group of individuals who bring with them divergent interests, abilities, cultures, and families. I love that my students bring different personalities into the classroom, they know they are loved, welcomed, and appreciated every day.
Our school is located in a low socioeconomic neighborhood and most of our students are English language learners. In our classroom, we focus on the importance of community and curiosity. Although my students come from different backgrounds, they live in the same community and know that they are loved just the way they are!
My Project
My goal as a teacher is to create a classroom environment that is inviting and an engaging place for students to grow and learn. For students to succeed in my classroom, they need to believe that they can learn. They need to feel that what they are learning is important, relevant, and useful to them. In order to create this environment for my students, I need to provide the proper tools to help my students succeed.
Learning centers add novelty, choice, individuality, and accountability on the part of the student.
I am asking for a variety of centers and teaching supplies that will provide my students with the best learning experience. Hands-on activities such as the Power Pen Quiz cards, Touch & Read set, and Tower of Sight-words will allow my students to learn while also having fun with these activities. The best learning occurs when students take an active rather than a passive role in the learning process. With your help, these centers will allow my students to become active learners!
