As a relatively new teacher at LEAP, I want my kids to be able to have everything they need to succeed. The students in this district mostly come from low income households with various home life situations. These students are excited and vibrant and love interacting with each other and with teachers and staff. They have a voice and like to be heard. I hope that as a teacher I can some how impact them.
Students love hands on learning, and being in the inner city affords them little opportunity to experience nature.
In our classroom, we have a garden. We are slowly building our lab thanks to donors like you!
My Project
My students need flexible seating, such as cushions and small area rugs to enhance their learning environment. Currently we have lab tables and stools in my classroom which is great for doing labs, but our class is dynamic. Some days we need to read and have class discussion and sitting comfortably can increase the students ability to relax and really focus on the topic.
Our classroom is dynamic, in that every day is different.
Some days we will be using laptops to research, some days we will need to read as a class and sometimes we need to have class discussions and take notes on clipboards. This does not need to be a formal setting.
My students are more confident and comfortable in a less formal setting. This can help students really succeed.
