This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our classroom consists of student centered learning and collaboration. I hope to see academic growth in all my students by the end of the school year and to instill a life-long love of learning. I hope to be able to bring literature and history to life through this field trip.

Our school is part of the Chula Vista Elementary School District.

We have a high population of English language learners and socio-disadvantaged students in our district. We are a Title I school and all of our students participate in the free lunch program. Even though we have a high population of English language learners and socio-disadvantaged students, you wouldn't know it by visiting our classroom. Our students use all the tools at their disposal to produce the highest level of work possible. Our students are role models for our district, not only in academics, but in citizenship too!

My Project

Learning about the American Revolution and early colonial life is difficult for our students because most of them were born and raised in southern California and have never traveled beyond the state. It is difficult for them to grasp the concept of early colonies without the visuals and hands-on experience that this trip provides. It is especially difficult for our high population of English learners because of all the vocabulary involved in learning about the Revolutionary War and early colonial life. I believe that allowing the students to visit Riley's Farm as a field trip will be an excellent experience. As part of their unit of study, this field trip will deepen my students' understanding and knowledge of such an important time in our American history!

Taking this field trip to Riley's Farm is the best way to bring the American Revolution to life!

My students will participate in hands-on activities that deepen their understanding of how the court system works, how to march like a soldier, and what the Quarter Act is all about. Through this amazing field trip I hope to bring the early colonies of the east coast to my students in California! Please donate to this project and help bring history to life for my amazing students by allowing us to take this fantastic field trip!!
