Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Fabens High School has brought Seaperch to our students as way for them to apply engineering design skills learned in the classroom to a real world scenario. Seaperch is an aquatic robot that is remotely operated (ROV). This program guides students in building this ROV design. Students apply soldering, wiring of electrical circuits, and 21st Century skills.

The materials are all used for the three motors, the controller, and the option of 3D printing their robotic arm.

Any material used other than PVC is budgeted. This budget is presented on their technical report as one of three components of the competition. The other two components are a mission course (this year's theme is deep sea exploration, partnership with NOAA) and an obstacle course.

This year we have four teams ranging from freshman to seniors! Although the majority of the students are in the STEM Engineering pathway, we also have students in the Humanities pathway, Public Service pathway, and Early College.
