Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are ages 4-5 in an NCPRE-K classroom. We have children who speak English, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, and Vietnamese. This is the first school experience for most of the children that are in my classroom. All 18 children love to learn new things each day.

They enjoy hands-on experiences and learning through play.

We teach from a curriculum that is called Creative Curriculum 5. In this curriculum, the children investigate different studies. This curriculum also helps to enhance the children's' social, fine and gross motor skills. The children come in each day very excited, asking "What are we doing today?" All of our children receive free breakfast and lunch at our school. They are energetic, smart, and loving.

My Project

My children LOVE listening to stories and "reading" books each day. With these CDs and books, the children will be able to listen and read along with pictures and words of familiar and new stories daily.

Due to COVID-19, we are teaching online from home.

During this time, I upload lessons and activities for the children in my classroom. I can play the recording of the book as I turn the pages for the children to enjoy on video. I also plan to send the children books and CDs to listen and read with their families at home.
