This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wide-eyed, eager to learn, busy bodies filled with the curiosity of wanting to know everything and anything about school, learning, socializing and play.

Many of them have never had a school experience so Kindergarten is the start of a whole new life for them.

It is where they will learn how to learn and build trusting relationships that will shape their future school careers and beyond.

I love this age group because their courage to leave the safety of their home inspires me to provide a space where they will be glad to be in and feel once again safe, loved and welcomed.

My Project

Most of my students are entering a writing growth spurt and I want to make sure they have the tools necessary to prevent any hindrance of growth.

I want them to continue their vocabulary learning during our How-to-Books unit of writing as well as expand on word meaning during our Informative unit of reading.

They already have creative writing journals, yet the added vocabulary journals will aid students as they explore the meaning of the words they encounter while reading, by writing their ideas and information from the content read.
