Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a school which has 94% of its students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. We have many apartment homes zoned to our school, so many of the students at the school have attended two or more schools in their elementary years.

My students are excited and motivated to come to school each day to learn and help each other meet social and learning goals.

The class is a dual language class where English language learners and English speakers are taught in English and Spanish. School is the best place for my students to practice their reading and speaking skills.

My Project

The subscription to Scholastic News will provide my students with an opportunity to build non-fiction reading skills, increase content area reading and promote a love of reading. This magazine is a great way to support our non-fiction reading goals.

The magazine includes topics related to reading, social studies, science and current event topics that are relevant to the students.

The subscription includes: learning videos in English and Spanish, enrichment games, and activity pages to enhance the students' learning. The topics are relevant to their age group.

I have also requested an ink refill for our class printer. We use the printer to print leveled readers, class writing, vocabulary words with pictures, and class communication.
