I am currently an elementary school teacher in a high needs area. My students love to read! They are fully engaged and motivated throughout their class session, but we do NOT have many books that are on their level. My classroom needs leveled books to continue this thirst for learning. With the rise of literacy approaches such as guided reading, many hail leveled readers as a critical component of effective reading instruction.
The majority of the students in my school are struggling financially.
Some of our students even reside in shelters. Most students qualify for the state's free or reduced price meal program. Often times, the students come into class without the necessary materials to succeed in school. My school has experienced additional budget cuts. Teachers are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire.
With the rise of literacy approaches such as guided reading, many hail leveled readers as a critical component of effective reading instruction. Supplying my students with these leveled books will help my children acquire the skills needed to become proficient readers when they practice using those skills while reading text that is at a “just right” level. Using these leveled reading books and instruction, helps my students become good readers who not only can read but do read. These leveled books that I requsting for my classroom will offer strategies to help provide my readers with the right level of support and challenge.
