I teach at an urban school in Mass. My school is the second largest High School in Mass. My classroom is a substantially separate classroom for students with Autism. I currently have 8 students in my classroom. They are all males. I have 6 verbal students, and 2 students who use an IPAD (touch chat) to communicate. My students have diverse needs and ways of learning. One thing I love about my students is that they teach me new things every day. I think some days they teach me more than I have taught them.
My Project
Because of the pandemic, my students have been in and out of school throughout the year. I am in need of online curriculum to be able to teach my students whether they are in person or remote. My students need highly engaging curriculum at their educational level. Currently, when we are in school our students are not allowed to use hands on materials. All teaching must be done at their desk on their laptops. I would like to be able to use BrainPOP to engage my students in all areas of the curriculum. I would like a curriculum where the students can use it at home and in person. Consistency is key for my students. Having a curriculum they could use either remote or in-person would be game changing for them.
