My students come from low income families, and my school district is a low income school district. My school can't even supply basic classroom materials for my students to use. I have to buy all materials for my students. Also, my students are learning below grade level. What that means is the materials my students need (crayons, markers, scissors, glue sticks) are not supplied by the school, because High School students don't typically need these materials for class. My students will use these materials to work on IEP goals and learn to become as independent as possible. When my students leave High School at age 22 I need to make sure they are as independent as possible and have skills to become active participants in their communities.
