Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As Katie Wood Ray says in Wondrous Words, “Like any other craftspeople, professional writers know that to learn their craft, they must stand on the shoulders of writers who have gone before them.” So we need to give our students the tools they need to do that.
My students are curious and amazing.
They love to write. They learn that they are authors just as much as the the authors of the books they read. In order to feel "professional", students need tools, such as special paper to publish their books. This grant would give them the materials they need to publish their books.
My Project
I am requesting special paper they can use to bind their books and bookmaking kits. I am also requesting a cart to organize all the materials and make them accessible for the students. We also need colored pencils and markers so that they will be able to decorate their published works.
I want my students to love writing the rest of their lives.
I want them to be able to leave this class with tangible proof of all the writing they have done. The more special the materials, the more unique the published works. Please help!!
