My students need supplies/tools including vacuums, file organizer, art supplies and daily supplies like tape, pens and rubber bands necessary to improve on their ability to become more independent, and successful in life.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are in a life skills class. They have various disabilities (Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, physical impairments, behavioral impairments, emotional impairments, and learning impairments, etc.). Most of my students require one on one assistance, and customized assignments daily.
Each of my students has 8 classes, each class different from each other.
Because of this, it requires the use of various forms of customized materials, and manipulatives daily in order to make a connection with the students at their level of understanding. Without this modification, and customization, my students would not be able to comprehend their assignments.
This is my 3rd year with many of the students, and I thoroughly enjoy working with them, and offering them a loving and nurturing environment, where they can become successful. To see how much they have grown socially, academically, and physically, has been like watching my own children growing up. We recently had a major hurricane and I can say, my students came back ready to work. They try their best, and I am extremely impressed with their resilience and work ethic.
My Project
I am requesting supplies such as tape, rubber bands, and file organizers that will be used to organize, store, and create individualized assignments and templates for my students. Each student has 8 subjects, all of which I am required to create individual/customized templates and assignments for. These supplies will allow me to have some form of organization.
I am in need of supplies necessary to make my students as successful, and productive while in school and after they graduate.
I am seeking vacuums, because these are part of my students goals (vacuuming, washing dishes, cleaning tables, etc.). I am seeking art supplies because they help my students, many of whom are non-verbal express themselves through art.
