My students need assistance with expressing themselves in a positive way. The self help bo4oks and LEGOs will help these young learners identify and express their feelings in a productive and favorable way.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a district serving a high number of economically disadvantaged children, my students struggle with basic skills. They struggle not from a lack of knowledge but from a lack of experience.
Students should not feel limited because of their demographics, but empowered by their abilities.
I want my students to be involved in the learning process. Knowledge is power, students are strengthened through engaging lessons and hands-on learning. Regardless of economic background, I want every student to know they are and can be greater than their current situation.
My Project
All students learn and express themselves in different ways. The books will help my students listen and identify positive ways they can express feelings. The games will help students build social skills as they work with peers to identify and solve problems.
Giving students the tools to manage their anger puts them in control of their emotions.
The books and games will help students self regulate their emotions and identify good coping skills. As students understand their anger they can avoid the storm of emotions and self soothe. Students will use LEGOs and board games to manage anger and build character.
