My Students

I work at a very unique school with just over 100 students and one teacher and class per grade level. We are a professional development school and work with the local university. We have an emphasis on STEM and Reading. Our staff's motto is to be Unique and United.

Social and emotional learning needs to be at the forefront of education today.

We are dealing with unprecedented times and challenges. Our school currently does not have a counselor, and the needs are great.

My Project

Teachers use picture books to begin discussions about emotions. When children hear a story about someone who experiences emotions just like them, they realize they are not alone. They learn that being human means life is a roller coaster!

When we make efforts to teach about emotions and mindfulness, everyone wins!

The books I have chosen for this project go along with mini lessons. I plan to teach my students how to be recognize their feelings and act in healthy ways.

I also want to help them express their emotions, so I have included some art materials as well as the books!
