Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have an interactive whiteboard and we love it! My students only wish that they had more time interacting with it! We have 24 students and they all want to be heard at once! With individual ActivExpressions, ALL my students will have a voice and can contribute at the same time!
Technology is ever changing and my students are ready for that change!
With increasing class sizes, I want to make sure that all my students' learning styles are addressed and help make learning accessible and pertinent to them.
My students LOVE to learn! They also have different learning styles. Some are great listeners! Some not such great listeners. Some love visuals. Some can't wait to get up and move their bodies! I even have some students who are a mix of all these.
My students are a bright bunch of kids who love school and learning. They are a caring group who have such distinct and unique personalities and learning styles. I have soccer stars, a student obsessed with cats, a "fashionista", an old soul trapped in an 8 year old body, cheerleaders, wrestling diehards, chipmunk lovers, Mohawk brigades, and students with learning disabilities. Regardless of their personalities, they ALL love to use their imaginations and enjoy creating things unique to themselves.
My Project
The ActivExpression is a hand held tool that each student will use to respond to our lessons and activities on our interactive whiteboard. With this tool, students will be able to text their contributions or answers for immediate feedback and participation.
Full text-capability enables students to respond in full sentences as well as in numbers, symbols, math equations, true/false, and more. Self-Paced Learning will allow me to assign full quizzes of varying difficulty and gives students the opportunity to register answers at their own pace. I'll be able to do a quick spot check of who understands a concept and who needs review with at a touch of a button.
With this set of tools, it is truly taking technology to its fullest into the classrooms. My students will be learning that all their contributions are valid and allow them to steer the direction of the lesson. This is the true future of classrooms!
This project is so important because now every one of my students will be able to contribute to our lesson in a way that validates all their responses.
I can ask what adjective can we use to describe the character, and 24 responses will pop up from my students. It will also make it easier to pinpoint exactly which standards I need to address with which students. Students can input answers as text or as multiple choice answers. It also makes learning so much more hands-on and immediate!
