Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I'm a third grade teacher at a school in the South Bronx. This year our Social Studies theme begins with New York. We are learning about landmarks and life in our wonderful city. So many of my students are not aware of the grand things that take place in their own city. We will be going on several trips to expose them to different aspects of the city, and one of them is the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. I am asking for funding of this trip because it will be expensive and not one of my students will be able to afford it otherwise. Most of my students come from single parent homes which are on public assistance. This will be an experience of a lifetime for all of them. Some may never visit Radio City Music Hall ever again! I would love for them to have this experience. A third grade experience that will stay with them always. After returning from the trip the students will write about and illustrate their experiences. They will make a trip book of all their travels throughout the five boroughs. Some of their post activities will be presented on power point and shared with other classes.
