Exploring the World of Science and Art From a Classroom

My Students

I am amazed at the curiosity of my classroom of 23 third graders this year. They love to ask questions and learn about the world around them. We are a title one school and many of my students fell behind with their minimal access to technology and parent support during "at-home" learning. It has been a lot of work to get them caught up in the core subjects of math and reading.

I quote by Elijah Muhammed describes my students: "Asking good questions is half of learning".

I am amazed at the things they are learning on their own through their own questions. They work so hard on learning to read and the basics of math that sometimes there is not time to explore the arts and sciences like we would like.

My Project

Many of my students have missed out on a year of science and art learning. We have been working so hard catching up in math and reading that we did not have time to dive deep into science and art. With our early out day schedule, every day last year those were the first things to go and my students have missed exploring.

There are amazing resources online and having more technology resources as well as more materials for science and art learning such as headsets, fraction tiles, and science kits will truly enhance my students learning in these areas.

Having these resources will help my students overcome the effects that Covid has had on their learning.
