Exploring Prejudice and Tolerance in The Hundred Dresses

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn about kindness and compassion.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am so excited to be able to support my students’ academic learning as well as their social emotional needs through their love for reading. Each of my students enjoy reading stories about children who, like themselves, are experiencing change and trying to “fit in” to a world that seems to be full of criticism.

The novel “The Hundred Dresses” will not only enhance their literacy skills, but also provide a valuable opportunity to foster empathy, tackle bullying, and encourage self-reflection.

They will be able to make connections to this book which will heighten their comprehension and impact them in a significant way.

The goal of this project is to provide each student with a copy of “The Hundred Dresses” so that we can engage in a novel study as a class. Novel studies are a great way to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that have a lasting impact on students' academic and personal development.

What I love about my students is how they like to reflect on their learning, and talk to one another to hear each other’s perspective. I feel that by reading this book, and using it as a tool for deeper understanding, it will strengthen their social emotional learning and help improve their self-esteem.

Thank you for helping my students grow both academically and emotionally.
