My Project

My second grade students are naturally curios learners who thrive when lessons are hands-on, visual, and connected to the real world. Many of them learn best when they can see concepts in action rather than only reading or hearing about them. I want to bring those experiences to life through aerial learning and real-world observation. I am requesting a DJI Mini Pro to be used as a teacher-operated instructional tool in our classroom. This Drone will not be operated by students directly, but by the teacher as part of guided lessons. It will allow us to capture aerial images and videos of our school campus and surrounding environment to enhance learning across multiple subjects.

With this resource, students will be able to explore concepts such as mapping, community geography, measurement, and environmental observation in a way that is engaging and developmentally appropriate.

Students can compare aerial views of familiar places like our playground, school garden, and neighborhood, and begin to understand perspective, scale and spatial relationship.

In Science, we can use drone footage to observe changes in environment over time, such as plant growth in our school garden or seasonal changes on campus. In writing, they can use what they observe from the footage to create descriptive paragraphs, narratives, and informal texts. In math, we can integrate concepts like estimation, distance and area using real-world visuals.

This drone will also build excitement and motivation for learning and support hands-on STEAM learning. When students see their school and learning environment from a new perspective, it sparks curiosity and deeper engagement. It turns abstract concepts into something meaningful and memorable.

Most importantly, this tool will help bridge classroom learning with real-world application, making lessons more relevant and impactful for young learners.
