Help me give my students the opportunity to explore outside of the classroom by donating a digital camera that will allow us to come face to face with nature when we attend walking trips and field trips.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at an early childhood school that houses only students in pre-k and kindergarten. Though a small school my students have large personalities. My students have imaginations that run wild and often make for great conversation. They are imaginative, creative and inquisitive. They enjoy participating in hands on activities and rotating to the many learning centers in our classroom.
My students are magical little people with big hearts.
They are eager to share out and participate in the learning process. Although there are some language barriers present my students embrace one another. My students are enthusiastic learners who come from diverse backgrounds.
My Project
The use of a digital camera in an early childhood setting allows for students to recall what they seen on walking trips and field trips and make text to text, text to world and text to self connections. Often when we return from outdoors students have trouble recalling what they seen and explaining. The photo printer in the classroom will allow for the students to see themselves as they experience the world around them and make awesome starters when teaching writing.
By donating to our project students will be able to verbally express their experiences and reflect by writing about those experiences.
In addition, when students transition to learning centers, the pictures will help to make transitions easier.
