Exploring Nature In the Library

Help me give my students wonderful books about birds, bird feeders, and tools to explore the natural spaces surrounding our school.

My Project

My students are fascinated with birds! This project will provide them with bird feeders, birdseed, and books about birds. As we learn more about birds, we will head outdoors to look for more birds and observe the nature surrounding our school. As we walk around the green space surrounding our school, students will collect things to observe closely through the use of the new observation tools in this project. Our goal is to bring experiences similar to the type of experiences that children experience in a science museum to our school library.

Through the use of these engaging hands-on materials and fascinating books our students will learn how to closely observe nature in their neighborhoods.

We find that spending time in nature helps our students learn to regulate their nervous systems and prepares them to learn when they return to their classrooms.
