My Students

The kindergarten through sixth-grade students who walk in our classroom doors daily requires a unique teaching environment, learning style, and exploratory environment. Our students come to their suburban neighborhood schools from surrounding Charlotte communities to participate in the Special Education Extensions program.

The students we serve in our Exceptional Children's program come from culturally diverse families where socioeconomic backgrounds range from middle to low income.

Each of our Exceptional Learners is unique and thinks and responds to their environment with wonder, hesitation, questioning and expectations.

My Project

As a student with learning disabilities, the opportunity to explore the world with color supports their visual, sensory, and tactile needs. Students receiving the requested items will have the opportunity to get a little messy while engaging and exploring the world of color through painting, drawing, and tactile expression. Imagine the ability to have a variety of paints and learn how watercolors give a different feel to art than acrylics, or how to use cray-pas blends to create vibrate expression. This is the world where kids can freely express their emotions.
