My Students

There is nothing better than getting lost in a good book. My students love to travel to lands unknown, create their own worlds, and discuss traits and characteristics of their favorite characters in our class library. Many of my students are recent immigrants or refugees and have a variety of world experiences and culture. This also means they often have few resources at home.

I love my students, they are bright, inspiring, and ready to learn.

As English Language Learners, there is nothing more valuable than having rich resources to build their vocabulary and understanding of the world around them. A strong library helps build confidence and excitement as well as conversational skills. My students often ask me when the next books will be arriving. It is truly a joy to watch my students as they find a new book that sparks their interest.

My Project

The excitement of getting into a new book is something that hasn't left me as an adult. I love showing my students new worlds and helping them to think creatively. These books will help inspire lessons throughout the year as well as encourage independent reading in the classroom.

I chose these specific books because my students are always asking me if I have any of them on my shelves.

I hope in developing my library it will increase the love and excitement for books in the classroom. An early love of reading can build a foundation for the rest of their lives.
