Exploring Forces, Simple Machines and Motion in the Science Class
My students need the Exploring Forces and Motion lab, the Exploring Gravity lab, and the Exploring Simple Machines lab to do hands-on activities in the science class.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a low-income, high poverty school district. I teach a Physical Science class of eleven nine graders. The students of that Physical Science class are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. All my students have specific learning disabilities. Despite the challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students will learn better if they are provided with opportunities to do hands on activities.
My Project
The Exploring Force and Motion Kit will allow the students to test various surfaces for friction resistance, correlate weight to friction, and investigate ways to decrease friction using wheels and rollers. My students will be able to measure the volume and weight of different objects and calculate the density of those objects using the Gravity lab Kit. Using this kit, the students will be able to establish the relationship between mass and weight. With the Exploring Simple Machines Kit, the students will investigate pulleys, wheels, and axle mechanisms and levers, the advantages and efficiencies offered by each of them.
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by deepening their understanding and knowledge of science concepts.
As the students conduct these investigations, they will study, explore, and become familiar with science concepts.
My students will benefit by conducting investigations in the physical science class since they will be making connections between theory and objects and machines in daily life. The students will also be able to observe and establish relationships and correlations between science concepts. Knowing that in science class they will be doing hands-on activities that will make them engage and happy, improving and making a difference in their school lives.
