My students need TIME for Kids, a resource that will expose them to the world outside of our community.
They will also be able to work on team building skills with the jump ropes.
We are a Title I school in southeast San Diego. Our school is a very ethnically diverse school. We have a large population of students that speak a variety of languages, so the majority of the population are English Language Learners. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with all of our students receiving free lunch. Yet with these challenges our students come to school excited to learn in a safe environment. As teachers we can control our students experience during the school day in a positive way. We focus on building their self esteem and confidence to inspire all of our students to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Students will have the opportunity to read about important issues in the world around them. TIME for Kids will allow students to be exposed to current events at their reading level. It will give them the opportunity to experience reading a magazine type publication and understanding how it is written. They will also have information written at their level that they will be able to use for background knowledge in their future learning.
TIME for Kids is a valuable resource for the students to use during their language arts time to practice gathering information and writing reports.
TIME for Kids will engage my students in interesting topics that will build their knowledge on those specific topics.
The jump ropes will allow for the development of socializing skills and team building activities needed in elementary school.
