Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My class consists of sixteen students who are focusing on expanding their global contextual understanding. These sixteen students are in the process of exploring foreign authors, literature and policy.

These students have been afforded the opportunity to be participate in an academic program that focuses on education from a global contextualized perspective.

What makes my students special is there enthusiasm for not only wanting to learn new things but experience new things as well. My students have made the effort to become accountable to their own learning experiences, and their continuous efforts to have new experiences afforded to them makes me proud as a teacher.

My Project

This trip allows students in an underserved community the opportunity to travel outside of the country for the first time. The majority of these students have never traveled outside the state and this trip not only allows for an awesome travel experience but the opportunity to earn education credit.

During the trip students will participate in walking tours of historic landmarks and museums.

The International Baccalaureate program places an emphasis on global conceptualization for students and this trip will give students a first hand experience. This trip will expand students understanding of the world from an "outside of the classroom" perspective.
