My Project

The use of the Explode the Code workbooks will help to reach those students in my class that need the additional support with learning the letter names and sounds. My special education class is comprised of 14 students with various learning needs and various levels. Individualizing work is of utmost importance as well as consistency.

The Explode the Code curriculum will give that as it provides a multi-sensory approach that is geared to improving literacy with direct, systematic, phonics instruction.

I already have the other levels, but could use these three as they have visual, auditory, and kinesthetic literacy activities in them. The pre-literacy books teach phonological awareness by covering 21 consonants, letter formation, and their sounds; fine-motor skills and letter formation practices that are initiated through tracing and writing consonants; and matching exercises that help develop visual discrimination and letter recognition
