This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."
- Albert Einstein

My students need a document camera so that we can explain, analyze, and correct our work together.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds.
In IB Mathematics we study how to take complex mathematical ideas and apply them to real-life scenarios around the world. We will cover an array of topics from statistics and probability to trigonometry to calculus.
My students come form all different family structures, socioeconomic statuses and religions. They are athletes, honors and academics students, child care providers, employees, and incredibly gifted in the arts department!
My Project
My students will use a document camera to project their work on the board. This will help them learn to mathematical arguments effectively and to identify errors in their own mathematical process. They will be able to learn how to communicate their work clearly on paper and will also be able to correct the mistakes of others in a meaningful way.
This project will make a huge difference because many of my students know how to "do" the math, but have trouble expressing the process to others.
They need to be able to explain mathematics simply, as Einstein says, so that they can demonstrate understanding. If I can show them how to do this effectively, they can be ready for the IB Exam and also for college classes!
