My students need the amazon echo to learn more about artificial intelligence.
I am a teacher in a low-income school. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds and are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face I am eager to help them become better readers and succeed in school.
My students are eager to learn to read.
Many of my students come from single-family homes and some are being raised by their grandparents. These are challenges that prevent them from getting the help that they need in reading. As we know it is helpful for students to be read to at an early age and with the challenges of today that doesn't always happen for our children.
From the time my students walk in the door of our classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. As a teacher, I can't control what happens in their home, however, I can control what happens during the school day. I am hopeful that I can teach all my students to read at grade level or higher.
With technology changing ever so quickly I think it's important for students to look at artificial intelligence. The term artificial intelligence dates back to the 1950's but has drastically accelerated in capabilities over the last few years and it is now becoming a part of our everyday products and lives. I think it is important for students to understand the technology that is rapidly coming our way and how it will change education as we know it will. We know that artificial intelligence is usually defined as the science of making computers do things that require intelligence when done by humans.
In our classroom, we want to start experimenting with artificial intelligence, showing students how it works and using some fun tools to create some engaging learning.
As the voice assistants are getting smarter we can show our students the power that they deliver.
Google has created a site that allows you to play with artificial intelligence and create. We can learn to play 20 questions or even learn to combine sentences that are curriculum based. That is just a tip of the iceberg. There is so much to be learned with artificial intelligence and my students are excited about all the capabilities.
