My Students

My students are using technology daily in Photography many students only have access to the technology I can provide them, so getting cameras would be a key to their success. They are all eager and willing to learn, but they are hindered by the economic challenges of their everyday lives.

The students I see on a daily basis and economically challenged.

Many only eat when they are in school, have poor relationships with their friends and families and I try to create a 'home' environment for them. On a regular basis I provide them with the supplies they need to succeed. If i do have cameras for them to use, they are old, run down and worn out. That means I cannot provide them with the best of the best, but I can give them something. It is hard... some kids need more then others. They may be sitting next to someone with a brand SLR camera or cell phone. I want to give every student the best experience possible with out limiting their ability to succeed.

My Project

My students are learning to look at the world through the lens of these four digital cameras with SD cards. They will learn the importance of Art and Photography. They will learn about personal expression. Some students are not interested in the pencil, pen or ceramic side of art. Some students like to visually express themselves. If I can help provide this technology for students, they will use them on a daily basis. They will explore, they will be able to look at their everyday environment and hopefully begin to see the beauty in the little things. I am hoping that they will get a sense of pride in their town, their school and start to change their insides for the best.

I teach in a diverse and economically challenged district.

This will help students that look at the course description and see that they need a camera, not turn the page and think they can't take the class because they don't have the technology. It may help kids reach inside themselves and see that they have the chance to enjoy a creative outlet and hopefully look at the world they see in a different light.
