I teach at a medium-sized school in central Arkansas. Our students are located in an at-risk district and are made up of a variety of socioeconomic classes. We have not had pottery or 3D sculpture program at or school for at least the last 10 years. I feel that our students are missing out on this discipline of art. I would like to start pottery and 3D sculpture program to better serve our students. We have a very courteous and caring group of students that would definitely put a new pottery and 3D sculpture program to great use.
My Project
These supplies (plaster cloth, armature, wire, and sculptamold) will help my students be able to create 3D forms using armatures. 3D design is so important to a complete art education and I feel that wire armature experience is of the utmost importance. I want my students to have a variety of materials at their disposal to help them have an unlimited choices in how their project will be created. This will result in the student having multiple of ways to solve problems they may confront in the creation process. In turn this will create a higher level of thinking and a superior level of art.
These factors will better prepare my students with the knowledge and thought processes that will be of great importance at the college level.
