Experience the World From the Classroom

Help me give my students the chance to visit the world through virtual field trips. This set of equipment, from the Fomako camera to the Behringer mixer and microphones will open the doors from rural Utah.

My Students

My students in Price, Utah come from a very diverse set of backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and homes. Although the students are faced with challenges that many students in more urban parts of the state may not face, they come to school every day with a desire to learn. The students are creative and willing to jump into any learning experience they are challenged with.

My Project

Throughout the pandemic, it has become apparent that virtual learning is the way of the future. In rural Utah, we are limited in the places we can visit and the experiences we can have. The use of this equipment will allow me to open the door to the world while improving the quality of education that is offered to quarantined students.

First, improving the quality of the education that is provided to students who are learning from home.

This is important due to the number of students learning from home and the frequency of this happening. By having a high-quality 1080i camera and professional quality microphones, students will be able to participate from home with HD video and be able to hear what is going on in the classroom, eliminating two of the largest issues that I have found while facilitating remote learning.

Second, this selection of equipment will open the doors to the world for the students in 4th grade. We often wonder how we can help the students continue to learn and help them have impactful experiences from our rural school. We are limited by distance and cost on the field trips we can take and the out-of-classroom experiences the students can have. This equipment will allow us to bring the world to the classroom and give the students the chance to participate in activities from around the world.
