Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and enthusiastic learners. They come to school with a multitude of abilities and aptitudes reflecting their diverse backgrounds. Many are still acquiring fluency in English.
Although they come from a community with fewer privileges than others in the Silicon Valley, my students have unlimited potential.
We are working hard every day to achieve so that they can compete with the best of the students in the Silicon Valley. Our students deserve to have quality materials and experiences to help them achieve their personal best.
My Project
As a science and engineering focused school we pride ourselves on giving our students opportunities in and out of class to delve into the engineering design process. We have designed simple machines to rescue endangered animals and a fruit picking device that limits damage to the fruits. We are also competing with other schools this spring to build hovercrafts in the Tech Challenge a local engineering competition.
As a teacher I am always looking for ways to incorporate engineering experiences into my students' education.
This Engineering Bubble Wands is an Elementary kit that will be a great addition to what we already do. The topic of bubbles is highly engaging. I mean who doesn't like playing with bubbles? And it also will be a great design experience. Introducing engineering and showing the students how engineering can be creative, exciting and challenging will hopefully inspire them to become the next generation of engineers.
