Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school population is small. We start at Pre-K 4 and go up to the 5th grade. Most grade levels have only one to two classes at the most. The majority of the students have been here since Pre-K 4, which gives our school a hometown, family feel to it.

My students are 4th graders that are full of energy, eager to learn and have a great sense of humor.

I have such close relationships with them and their families, that extend outside of the school setting. Due to our camaraderie, I am often invited to birthday parties, recitals, church programs and sporting events. So as you can see, my students and I do not stop spending time with each other when the dismissal bell rings at 3:30!

My Project

My students have a general idea about energy. But I want them to have a deeper understanding. Through experiments, they will have a hands-on approach to how energy works, being able to use their five senses.

All of the materials I have requested will be used to conduct various experiments, giving my students an in-depth encounter on what energy is and how it is transferred.

The wow factor will be for them to discover that energy can neither be created or destroyed, but can only change form! My students will get to uncover this up-close and personal through numerous experiments dealing with energy.
