My students like most kids today are into the handheld game devices. Most of them have forgotten how much fun recess can actually be!
To show my students recess is fun, I have requested games such as a giant Connect Four, giant Jenga, Tetherball and Lawn Dice. With these games and the others on my wish list, my students will see that they can have just as much fun outside as they do inside on their video games. It will literally be a "breath of fresh air" to see them laughing and playing outside, instead of wanting to have inside recess to play on the computers!
By funding my project not only will students enjoy being outside for recess, but they will get to exercise and learn at the same time. Listed below are a few of the skills that they will practice with some of the games:
*Connect Four/Croquet- types of lines
*Jenga- balance
*Tetherball-degrees of circles
*Lawn Dice/Ladder Toss - four orders of operation in math
Hence, my students will be able to apply what they have learned in class at recess!
