My Project

I currently work at a Title I, urban, inner-city school in the special education department. Several of my students are diagnosed with dyslexia and are still unable to read in the 4th and 5th grade. The disappointment and low self-esteem that they have is heartbreaking. Our school is not able to afford the purchase of this program due to budget deficits.

This program will open the world of reading up to students who have previously seen themselves as failures.

It is research-based and truly allows students to learn to read, not only singular words, but actual books! I can only imagine the looks on their faces when they succeed in reading a relevant book all by themselves!

I truly want these students to succeed in life. They are capable of so many things, and they deserve to feel confident in themselves!
