Expanding the Art Room Walls (and minds!) with Digital Resources!

Help me give my students classroom-specific i-pads they may use collaboratively to access the amazing digital online resources from scientific drawing from 3D digital nature lab collections to inspired museum and interactive exhibits and artist process videos.

My Project

In developing an integrated visual art curriculum for Preschool through Second graders, I have them at visual! Adding in viable connections to science, math, reading and writing becomes especially relevant with self-directed learning, especially collaboratively. Adding i-pads to our classroom will allow small groups to access interest-driven direction and focus for students and access the vital components of social-emotional learning, cultural responsiveness, and identity. Students working together promotes the paramount development of empathy, communication, and new perspective building, whether between each other or the amazing people our world is comprised of. Students will gain skills in accessing incredible digital resources such as Rhode Island School of Design's 3D nature models collection and Art21's video collection of contemporary and diverse artists at work, among countless others to drive curiosity, wonder and world-dependent innovations! I-pads will also allow us to collaborate with our computer ed teacher to digitize and animate our 2D works. They will be able to take photos of their own work to upload to our shared digital gallery space and record video artist statements and create QR codes to add a truly interactive component to exhibits of their inspired work in their own words! The possibilities are truly endless!
