My high school students are eager to learn French. They range across all academic levels, as well as socioeconomic levels. Although some of my students have never traveled outside of our state, my class dares them to dream of journeys far beyond our state borders.
My students are motivated to learn French and about the Francophone culture.
They are starting their journey to become global citizens with a positive outlook! Their desire to learn more makes me want to be a better teacher!
My Project
Research shows the enormous benefits of reading in second language acquisition. Much like that of a young child building vocabulary in one's native language through reading, a student can greatly improve vocabulary skills while reading in a second language.
In order to benefit from reading, my students need access to a French library with a wide range of topics and a variety of skill levels.
My students and I will use these books on a daily basis as we enjoy Free Voluntary Reading (FVR) time.
