I love seeing my students' smiling faces & listening to their stories. My students are from low income families and all qualify for free lunch. Many of their parents work two jobs in order to provide for their families. Our school is located in an area where there is an overwhelming amount of daily gang activity and violence. Though their environment may not be conducive to learning, my students have an insatiable love of learning.
My class consists of clever, eager little minds ready to learn, despite the challenges they face in the community they live in.
My students are interested and fascinated about important issues in the world around them. They have an amazing curiosity for current events and the power to change the world for the better. I am requesting 31 subscriptions to Scholastic News. It will empower my students to learn about important current events, teach them about important issues, and improve their reading comprehension skills. Scholastic News helps young readers to stay up to date on important information happening around the world, while also supporting their progress in reading skills. This subscription will provide my students with an engaging opportunity to reinforce vocabulary and improve their comprehension strategies.
