My Students
My students are first through fifth graders in a very high poverty, elementary building. The students have a lot of responsibility in their daily home lives and when they come to school they get to be children and interact with their peers. My students simply are amazing, but need support to view themselves in that manner.
Our school is a Title I building and struggles to have enough materials for students to be successful on a daily basis.
Because of the lack of materials within our building, many teachers spend a lot of their own money to purchase necessary supplies.
My Project
The use of leveled books in my classroom will further support the reading strategies they are learning in school. Students will be practicing fluency and phonics skills daily through these materials. The readers will be available to choose based on the students interest, as well as to inspire their writing pieces. The students will utilize the books both in school and at home.
The students will gain confidence and a passion for reading through the leveled readers, while continuing to foster their love for reading at home.
The materials will advance my scholars to be the best readers and authors they can be. This will change our students' lives for the better. They will love school and feel success at an early age, having fun while learning! Your generous donation to our project will improve our classroom by building stronger readers and writers.
