My Students

My classes include 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Physical Education students (this involves all levels including students in Lifeskills classes). More than half of my students are on free and reduced lunches.

My class includes a wide range of age groups and ability levels.

Since my student's abilities include such a range, many learning strategies have to be used to motivate them.

The face of Physical Education Class has to adapt to meet the growing needs of our students. According the American Heart Association, the prevalence of overweight in adolescents ages 12-19 has increased from 6.1% to 18.4%.

My Project

I want to bring some FUN to my Physical Education classes with the BOSU BALL. Students love using equipment to workout. The BOSU ball adds a fun challenge by requiring a bigger range of motion during the exercises.

The BOSU Ball has a 6-sided design that can be utilized in many different ways.

The students will be forced to use more muscle groups due to the BOSU Ball design. Also, there are a variety of exercises that work different muscle groups and improve balance and strength over time.

With the included DVD's and online options, we will be able to personalize each workout to fit the needs of each group. Overall, the use of these BOSU BALLs will increase the balance and strength of all my students.
