Pedometers are very important in improving a teenager's fitness level. The Harvard Health Letter notes that 10,000 steps a day is a good goal. Success begins with the first step! Pedometers help students track their progress with an instant evaluation. A clear-cut fitness goal can be made for the class or activity. Pedometers keep the students motivated to reach their fitness goals. I've witnessed the levels of fun, work and accomplishment rise with the use of pedometers in my class. According to the Harvard Health Letter, a pedometer is a good motivational tool. Several randomized trials show that what's effective is wearing a pedometer and having a goal.
