Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch! I have high expectations that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected. We are learning skills such as robotics, coding, and typing along with our curriculum.
School is a safe and happy place for my students.
Each day, they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.
My Project
This writing center has places for students to choose their paper and writing utensils. This will save time as the teacher will not have to pass out supplies and can focus more on engaging with students and their writing.
In the first grade, my students need a variety of different types of writing utensils.
This will allow the student to take ownership and enjoy their writing. The students are excited about writing their stories and I believe having colorful writing tools will lead to more creativity in their writing. Pencil becomes boring and allowing colorful markers or gel pens will Enhance their stories. We can also use these colors to edit and add unknown words to their story.
Organization of these tools is also essential along with the organization of their writing pieces in their writing folders. Having a place to store all of these fun and exciting writing tools is a must. These supplies will greatly enhance our writing time.
